Course Aim This CQI-IRCA Certified course introduces learners to practical tools and good practice approaches to managing quality in construction at all stages of the project lifecycle.

It has been developed to equip learners working within the construction industry with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to their organisation’s achievement of ‘right first time’.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will have the capability to participate in the integration of quality to all stages of the Construction Project Lifecycle.

Learning outcomes On successful completion of this 2-day training course, you will be able to:

  • understand and explain the importance of quality in construction projects and programmes and understand the sector and sub-sector specific construction quality requirements
  • describe the key stages of the Construction Project Lifecycle, the principal roles and documentation, and develop appropriate quality objectives for each stage
  • explain the value of the planning process and key planning documents required and when to use them
  • explain the value and the application of appropriate controls to achieve the quality objectives for a project
  • demonstrate good awareness of the importance of following project planning arrangements /other controls
  • support the technical assurance activities and participate in establishing quality associated objectives
  • explain the value of building effective client and stakeholder relationships and robust communication processes with all stakeholders
  • support the project handover activities and participate in establishing quality associated objectives
  • convey to project personnel the value and importance of effective information management for delivering construction projects and programmes and the improvement of processes
  • describe a robust project change management process and why it is important to projects
  • explain the importance of quality in construction projects and programmes, and understand the sector and sub-sector specific construction quality requirements
  • understand the role of a quality advocate to motivate project personnel to place quality at the heart of all activities across the project and the subcontractors to the project
